I practice the Five Pillars of Islam (salat, zakat, fasting, etc), and try to read at least a hizb, or a page of the Holy Qur'an everyday. I eat halal (but on rare occasions vegetarian or Kosher). I would attend Islamic lectures/classes, but the majority of the time I either read Islamic books or listen to lectures from Imam Siraj Wahaj, Nouman Ali Khan, Yasir Qadhi,Mufti Menk, Sheikh Yusuf Estes, etc.,. Among my immediate family, Muslim friends, classmates, and co-workers, I am described as mature minded, very patient, calm, honest, reserved, responsible, and logical. However, I do use "intellectual" humor to explain certain ideas/concepts. I rarely ever get angry about things in life, because as a Muslim, I recognized these experiences are part of Allah's test. Following modesty, I dress in either casual business to Islamic attire. Also practice "social" modesty, conducting myself professionally, limiting contact with the opposite gender among classmates, co-workers, and even so with social media(NO"online/cyber" girlfriends!!). I NEVER go to clubs, night parties, etc., smoke, drink, use/experiment with drugs(that includes marijuana, hashish, etc), gamble, or use profanity. I am not a sports fan, instead, during my free time, I'm at either the library/bookstore, masjid, or sitting at home at the internet/book reading. I go with my immediate family at the amusement parks or cinema occasionally. Although I am not very out going, I would be willing to try new things when I am married as our children would need more recreational activities. I recognize marriage is a serious responsibility and have realistic expectation about it: It's for the long term-ever. That is your life's partner, who you would grow old with, who you would have and raise your children with. A successful marriage takes REAL effort, commitment, love, gentleness, transparency to name a few. Marriage for a Muslim is also an 'ibadah. So there will be some times hardship, challenges as well as good or bad times.For a successful marriage, the husband/wife keep at it, sacrificing, negotiating, sharing, growing, and compromising. Marriage is not about wealth such as keeping up with the Jones or Ahmed's , or all about romance, but an human institution created by Allah, which we would complete the other half of our faith and earn more of HIS blessings and rewards.
Although I am NOT expecting my match to be carbon copy of me, she would possess similar qualities and values I mentioned in my profile so there would be more harmony within the marriage/family. No! That does not mean marrying the same culture/race, it means she also practices the 5 pillars. She is either educated, informed, or have a great interested in both learning and growing intellectually. She is not distracted by contemporary fads or popular trends(referring cultural behaviors which go against Islamic teachings, fashions, clubs, drinking, smoking, gambling, etc), a sister who sees herself as an individual than a follower and more importantly a Muslimah who follows the Quran/Sunnah as her guide. Who can learn about other cultures, people, languages, etc., with an open mind without being culture-centered or arrogant. She understands we all make mistakes at some point in our lives and overlooks imperfections, covering minor faults, and aiding her husband through hardships of life as he should for her. She regularly wears hijab/niqab as I always wear my kufi, limiting her contact with opposite gender at school, work, and online. who is mature minded, having self-esteem, family oriented, and has the correct intention of in being a good wife and mother for our children according to Quran/Sunnah.
